Why does fat accumulate around your middle?
It's all to do with hormones.
Perimenopause can last for several years, starting as early as your mid-thirties and ending with your last menstrual period at the average age of 51. During the transition, your ovaries are gradually winding down and producing less and less oestrogen.

And there's more. The stress hormone cortisol also plays an important role in shape-shifting your body. Cortisol is pumped out when you're under stress. It's one of the 'fight or flight' hormones, designed to give you a massive surge of energy when you need to escape from danger, or confront an enemy.
But when the danger in question is the fact that you'll be late for work if the bus doesn't come now, or the enemy is your partner who left a pile of dirty dishes on the counter, your stress levels still rise and your adrenals release cortisol. Because you don't use up physical energy in your response to stress, all that fuel swilling around in your bloodstream in the form of fat and glucose has nowhere to go. It's no surprise to learn that it ends up being stored as fat, and it piles on around your belly because that's the spot closest to your liver, where it can be quickly transformed into energy next time you need it.
The cortisol/weight gain link is a real problem for mid-life women who can face a whole welter of stresses, from their kids and partners, their own ageing parents, to their jobs, health, finances and numerous other worries.
Why is an apple-shaped body unhealthy?
Midriff fat is dangerous stuff. It seeps hormones and other substances into your bloodstream which can elevate blood pressure as well as affecting insulin and cholesterol levels.

Eat several small meals each day, rather than 2-3 big meals. This strategy evens out your blood sugar levels, which in turn means you crave less for sugary, fatty carbs. A simple, healthy snack in the middle of the morning and the afternoon can make all the difference. Don't ever be tempted to skip a meal. You'll only find yourself eating more at the next one.

Add different types of exercise to your lifestyle. Make physical exertion a priority, and don't stop at aerobics like walking or cycling. I feel you on this one. I'm the exact same way. One rule to remember is classics always work.tees & Polos look best. Never wear extremely tight jeans because they can expand your waist to make your top part even bigger. Go for V-neck tops. They tend to draw attention to your better attributes. Also, if you are fairly muscular, try stuff that shows off your arms. TUBE TOPS ARE A NO-NO. I am a fashion student myself, and one trend that i noticed works great is tunic shirts. Wear a lighter undershirt with a darker tunic shirt to even out the proportions. I have learned though expirience that no matter how much you dis-like your body, if you ever want to have good relationships you have to accept the bad parts and focus on the good parts. If you have a curved back due to scoliosis or something, then that could cause it to appear that you are fatter at your middle, but that won't be what they're talking about when they talk about an apple shape, because it's not caused by fat, but by bone structure.

If your hips are wider than the upper part of the body and you have a defined waist line that's called an "inverted triangle" or pear. Apple is where the waist line is the widest part of the body.The dress is okay for a pear; but I think the belt worn as the model wears it would narrow the waist too much and therefore emphasize the hip line even more. Without the belt it would look better, or with the belt worn lower than the natural waist. That visually widens the waist line and therefore makes the hip line look visually narrower. Also, if you do decide on this dress, add something to the neckline area, like a necklace in bronze or antique gold. This will give the top half the same visual detailing as the top and balance the top and bottom half of the body. If I were accessorizing the dress I would ditch the belt and add a belt, bold necklace, bracelet and earrings that all co-ordinate and then bronze or antique gold shoes and small clutch bag. The accessories would need to be a bit bold or they would get "lost" in the lace; and bronze/antique gold is less formal than gold and a fashion forward style.

DONT EAT DINNER TRUST ME !! my friend was be4 fat and had a chubby belly now she's so thin and has FLAT abs, she says i just dont eat dinner!! and her sced. goes like:
BF: all bran flakes+ low fat milk, 1 apple
noon: 1 apple
lunch: anything but 500 cals or less ( not deep fried, not fast food)
after lunch : chocolate! 250 cals or less
sugar free gum if extremely hungry ( not more than 4 a day)
WATER!! it keeps hunger at bay
ecercise ( aerobics: swimming, running, exercise vid....) 30 min 3 X a week
thats it !!

I love fashion, but nothing looks good on me! Everything is made for a girl with a teeny waist, larger hips, and average sized boobs. I, on the other hand, have a thick waist, INVERTED hips, and DD boobs (still growing..) Fashion is the one thing I absolutely love & have always been interested it, but I feel like everything is completely working against me with this. I have a great sense of style if I say so myself, and I have found a few things that look good on me & I like to stick with the styles that do, but it seems like all of the really cute stuff is just made for women in a completely opposite shape?Does anyone have any tips? Its this simple. Calories in vs. calories out. Count calories. 1,200-1,400 a day should be a good start. And dont be like most overweight women at the gym who are fooling only themselves by using the "thigh machine" and avoiding the cardio machines like the plague. REGULAR CLOTHING TIPS:Trousers and skirts that are straight. Avoid very fitted or tailored garments, particularly those with well defined waist bands as these will only draw unwanted attention to your mid-section
Avoid mixing and matching many different colours. Choose monochromatic outfits, as the use of just one colour will create an overall impression of length that will focus away from your width
Tops should cover the hip area and be worn over tapered trousers that flatter slimmer legs. Shorter skirts also help to draw interest to your lower body region. Light coloured hosiery (preferably 'nude') will help focus attention on your legs
Pockets should be avoided as often these can be unflattering and attract unwanted attention to the upper bodyDRESS TIPS:
Anything with detailing around the hips would be a good idea because since your hips aren't your widest part, it'll be good to draw attention away from your torso.
A slashed neckline will broaden the shoulder area. Do avoid halter necks, as this will exaggerate roundness at the waist.
A continuation of detailing, beading and brightness down the centre of the body would elongate the circle and deflect the eye from the outer edges.
A fairly straight dress will again emphasize the hips which are not your widest point.
You probably have lovely legs so why not show them off with a slit up the centre which will further ¨cut the circle ¨vertically.
The top of the dress should have a broad V neckline that will deflect attention from the mid area. This would create a triangular shape starting as a point at your widest point, the mid area and broadening out making the shoulders look a lot wider than your mid area.
Be careful not to wear a necklace too tightly round the neck, as this will emphasize the roundness at the midriff. Avoid tight or tapered skirts. Straight or very slightly flared looks good on you.

ok so you want to hide your midsection do with v neck shirts, tops empire waist , preferably dark colors, and for the pants wear light colors it creates an hourglass shape , toulip skirts or skirts with ruffles always show ur neck put on a necklace to draw aattention to the boobs lol show off your pretty legs , same goes for dresses pick them with a higher waistline or use a belt just under your breasts.

The apple body shape is the chunkier version of the "cone." People with cone shapes have a top-heavy appearance, with medium to broad shoulders, and a larger bust. Their waists are usually straight or slightly defined, with slim hips, small or flatter bottoms, and long slender legs. They turn into apple shapes when they gain a lot of weight.Some one with a cone shape would have measurements similar to these:
Bust: 38
Waist: 28
Hips: 34I know, because I'm a cone shape and those are my measurements.
A more apple-like body shape would be:
Bust: 44
Waist: 39
Hips: 36Some one with a ruler body shape would have a very straight up and down figure. They have relatively small or medium size busts, no clearly defined waist, and small to medium size hips.

Your body is the way your body is. If you try to make it appear to be something it's not, you/your partner may not be happy with things after the illusion has worn off.
Typically we have a great deal of control over our personalities and, from my own personal experience, most younger people tend to have... mmm... personalities which don't promote happiness in their partners over the long term. So my recommendation would be to focus on your other traits if you think your body isn't so hot.

I have a bigger sized stomach and small legs and I have the hardest time finding clothes that flatter my shape. I sometimes like the shirts like the link in the post below, but I rarely do I am not too fond of it "hugging" my hips like that, lifting kids ect. it is easy for it to come up, and it doesnt fall down unless u pull it because, well it is hugging you.
