      Honestly, I think they work mostly the same. Theres a lot of different brands out there, it just depends on what you want to pay. Spanx are very popular but a bit spendy. You can get similar shapers at Target or walmart. Torrid always has spanx available for people to use when they try on clothes in the dressing room. Depending on if theyare packaged or not you could take a few different brands into the dressing room at Target and see which you like the most(if they're prepackaged, buy one and return it if you don't like it). One thing to pay attention to is how they fit around your thighs...I have a pair that have a rubbery texture at the bottom which starts to dig into my skin and itch after a while, though it does keep them from riding up. And remember to get the right size, I've seen a few people wearing a size obviously too small and they squeeze their thighs and create a roll...not attractive.

      They are great if you want to tuck your tummy in without surgery.
      If you want your belly to be slimmer all the time, a tummy tuck(a surgical procedure) will do the trick. The only problem is, plastic surgery is very risky, but with the right surgeon, it can make miracles! Just do your homework and find a surgeon who is experienced and is recommended by many(if you actually do want to get surgery, if you don't, just stick to the shapewear, it's just as good).

      There's also bellydancing, yoga or an abdominal machine that may help, but it doesn't always give perfect results.

Oprah's endorsement didn't hurt on this one, so I'd assume that would be your first choice. Otherwise, you could try Hanes Go Figure. They are the new label for the old Smooth Illusions line. If you're up for a + pair like the Spanx are, try anything Donna Karan puts out. Never been disappointed with her hosiery. Again, her line can be found all over eBay for slightly less. Shop around.

      JC Penney , Macys, and Target have very good shapewear departments . Target sells a line of Spanx called Assets which is priced a little lower but just as good quality wise . We gals sometimes need the "spandex diet" to hide our calorie curves because diets take a little too long ! ;-)

      #1 I have great luck with Sassybax. It's actually a bra that holds it in and doesn't push up and has no hooks in back. You step into it like a bathing suit. You have to pull it down a bit to get tummy coverage. They have strapless, I believe. Warning, they are so popular and so incredibly effective that the manufacturer has distribution problems. You have to call around to find one in stock to try on. Plus, they are expensive, about to , but for a wedding you might want to spend it, I don't know. If you just think you can order it off the Internet, you can't. Unfortunately!

      #2 If you want one that goes all the way down, a real body shaper, Olga has a really nice sheer one that is very comfortable. About at a Macy's type store. Of course, that's not strapless, because the hold-in power comes from being anchored with straps on the top and the under-the-crotch fastener at the bottom.

      #3 Try a bigger size of the one you already have that pushes the fat up. You can donate it after the wedding to some other new mom when you lose all the "new-baby fluffies". She will bless your name for it.

      #4 Sit junior on your tummy and play peek-a-boo with him while you do crunches, making sure to keep your abs long and lean. Try to make your belly-button touch your backbone while you are doing the crunches. Plus, the baby will wear him/herself out laughing and you can get some work done or take a well--deserved nap. This is a great stress-buster and stress makes your tummy bulge, ask any college student at exam time!

      #5 Eat lots of bananas and asparagus and drink lots of water. The banana has potassium that helps keep water in balance and the asparagus (as well as parsley) are great natural diuretics.       When you add all the shipping and handling fees in, the Kymaro shapers are very expensive. They are also hard to put on, uncomfortable, and don't smooth as well as Spanx. I'd suggest trying the Spanx first. If you want a decent alternative to Spanx, the Assets brand they sell in Target are pretty good, too.

    I need a few suggested products for a great fitting body shaper. The problem areas are tummy and thighs,.. but I would like something that will not flatten my butt,.. and it has to be a tough material able to be pulled on.. Thanks in advance!

      I agree. Spanx are the best. smooths out the tum, tightens the butt so it doesn't jiggle but doesn't flatten it.

    What's the best body shaping underwear?
    I have a wedding to go to in April, and I'm wearing this really awesome sleeveless knee-length vintage cocktail wiggle dress in navy blue silk chiffon with all over horizontal pleats. I had it tailored to fit, and I am in pretty good shape, but I want to go that extra mile and get a body shaper. I have a small problem area on my lower abdomen that I want to control, and since silk chiffon isn't the most forgiving fabric, I want everything else to be nice and smooth. I would also like the option of peeing without completely undressing at some point in the evening. Any recommendations with links would be greatly appreciated.

      There are some underwear im not really sure what theyre called but i always wear them and theyre really comfrtable..
      they're sort of like spandex underwear and sort of like booty shorts but not as short..
      and they really do make ur butt bigger.
      not like dramatically but u can tell..

    Do body shapers mean that you can wear pants that are smaller than your size. Like, does it make you lose inches off of your waist? I'm a size 11, but I have a size 9 pants that I'm trying to fit into by next week, and I've been dieting and exercising, but I'm not making that much progress. So if I get a body shaper could I still wear those pants. And if so, which one is best recommended?

    • ANSWER:
      I doubt it. They usually work for the size you wear that has gotten a little snug or showing bulges. If you have one I'd try them on 1st with the shaper. If not I would not buy the smaller size unless you lose weight 1st. There are some shapers on t.v that claim to make you lose a size or two, but they're pretty expensive and who knows if they will work. Watch your portions, and cut back on fried food and sugar. That should help. You don't want to feel like you're suffocating all night just to be in a size 9. Good Luck

      if i were you i would go to lingerie section at nordstums because they have a whole section of body shapers! tell the worker exactly what your looking for and she'll know which one to give you!! make sure to bring the pants you want to wear so you can see if it works!!!

    I'm not overweight I'm only 133 pounds I have really good legs and everything considering I'm a dancer of hip hop and ballet my problem area is my lower tummy and sides I fit perfectly into a size seven no smaller or bigger but the waist is always to small I need something that will suck it in a really good body shaper for tummy area is what I was thinking idk what brand is the best though suggestions please?

      I did not want to leave his side for too long to shop for the perfect fit ....
      I found a cute summer dress...but it needed a little help and I found just the right undergarments at Target.....the price was right it was light, it pulled me in just right ....the tummy and the behind..... I was so grateful it was light weight and comfortable.......Have you checked out Target.....

      Don't worry about weight loss just yet. Your only 13!!! If you happen to lose too much weight, it could lead to death. Not safe. Don't do stuff behind your parents back. Also not safe. They ARE going to find out sometime! Be happy with how you look, and don't worry about how you CAN look. Looks aren't anything. If you really want to get thinner, eat healthy, and excersise!!!! (But keep yourself under control)
