Hi Whoa, how are you today?The difference between body building and toning is repetition and the amount of weight you use. The following is what I have concluded after much research for myself.
To body build, you will want to focus more on the amount of weight you use.
However, to tone, you would use less weight and focus more on repetition.
To have a lean, tone body, you may also want to consider a yoga or pilates class. People like the singer Sting have gained much benefit from yoga including a lean, tone body, stamina and balance. Remember, yoga and pilates are not just for the ladies, it can be a great source of exercise for both genders.
In case you are not familiar with the singer sting, I have enclosed a pic. of him as an example of what yoga has done for him (I'm not sure what is up with the dog though).

Kim could never fit her trunk junk into my jeans! Oh wait, the question is just worded oddly.It works fairly well, but only if you do it five or six times a week. I would recommend the Brazilian Butt Lift instead. You can do a quick trial if you don't mind not having a video. I'm linking an article that eventually ended in an infomercial. I have done the latter, but not the former. A friend of mine did though, my butt looks better!

However there is only a limited number of exercises that are really effective.
Stick to "Compound Movements" exercises that use alot of muscle goups, so you can use alot of weight.
Heavy pressure on the muscle is what tears it down so it can rebuild and grow.
Flat, decline and incline bench presses, with enough weight to let you get 6-9 reps, will give you the most growth.
Only use crossovers and flies as a chaser, to keep time under tension. (keep the muscle stimulated, to fire more fibers)

Hi.There are some exercises you can do at home. My sons work out in the garage and they have achieved the same results at home as they would have at the gym.
I believe the key is to have the proper equipment at home. Also, if you only want to use dumbbells at home, there are a lot of books at the book store that can assist you in the correct exercises and posture to build the maximum muscle possible.
There are a few things you may need. All a relatively inexpensive and can easily be obtained at any sporting goods store.
With that being said, you can have an average stunning muscular body!

Pilates is amazing it definitely helps you sculpt your body and lose inches and weight. I use a pilates machine frequently and since I have had several knee surgeries they do have cardio exercise you can do on there also.
It also helps elongate the spine, is easy on joints, and increases flexibility.

Hey Lauren =) i don't think so. girdles tend to constrict natural bloodflow and the most important internal organs might not function properly; prolonged use might even damage those organs. A woman who went through a C-section delivery had to wear a girdle for sometime to help the wound heal steadily in place but didnt do anything for her body, once the wound healed she got out of the girdle and went to her exercise routine. proper diet and exercise will do it for people. though i see a lot of web traffic in favor of girdles both for men and women so it probably boils down to a woman's freedom of choice. But for me, I'd go for consistent exercise to get my lean body once more.

Body sculpting implies deliberate weight training, as for body building in the amateur or professional level. And, there are different magazines for that. To do toning, just get DVD and lift low weights. For making major changes, you need to eat a certain way, lift higher weights, learn the muscular anatomy by heart, eat protein after a workout. It is a different way to see yourself as the ultimate result. If you are starting with poor strength and functional ability to live a daily life, reach up, move furniture, clean floors, etc., then start at point A, meaning build strength. If you want to more compact body, learn about toning. If you are more advanced, then, become more cut or defined muscularly. As far as losing fat, you need to be diligent and raise your heart rate to 85% of your target for at least 20 minutes every other day, maybe by running or using the stair master. For these types of activities, it is worth it to book a few sessions with a trainer. Also, your diet may need to be cleaned up, as you may wish to lose weight.

Along with some cardio activity 3xs a week, such as running, biking, swiming, or the elliptical.I have a great pilates video, called "10 Minute Solutions" by Lara Hudson. It has 5 10 minute segments that work on different muscles. You can do them individually if you're pressed for time or all at once for an intense 50 minutes workout.
Your local YMCA (or any gym, just that the Y is usually cheaper) offers great classes that are free to members, and a lot will help you "sculpt".
Eating healthy will help too (which I assume you do). Avoid junk foods (pop, candy, cookies, desserts, potatoe chips, etc). Eat lots of fruit and veggies and drink lots of water. Make sure you eat breakfast, because it helps you burn calories during the day. And only eat when you're hungry, and if you have to snack, eat something healthy like nuts, fruit/veggies, yogurt, etc.

I had to sculpt for class last year and have continued. Is there a place to watch sculpters at work? Preferably sculpting body parts, ie; the face, hands, feet.-

You can check out your local art schools or colleges, sometimes they allow the public to watch their classes, there's also tons of DVD's you can watch or even check out at your library. I'd also suggest the book "Anatomy for Artists" By Sarah Simblet: http://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Artist-Sarah-Simblet/dp/078948045XI'd also suggest (you may already be doing this though) using oil based clay for your practice, it will never dry & I love working with it because if you mess up on something, you can just rework it over & over again. It's great for practice. Sculpy is another clay you can check into. It's more on the craft side of things, but fine artists & professionals use it too. I love it. It's oven bake clay, but won't harden until you bake it, easy to work with, non-toxic & comes in all colors. You can find it at your local hobby/craft stores such as Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics.

QUESTION:
Is it possible for someone to have a well sculpted body without going to gym or without doing weight training?
Since I suffer from arthritis my doctor has advised against doing heavy weights. Is there any way someone can have well sculpted body without doing heavy weight training or doing high impact exercises? Will something like swimming help or any other form of exercise? I don't want to be like a heavily built body builder but want to have a well chiseled body.
Please give your suggestions for the same.-

I have the same problem. I still do some exercises but stick with body weight exercises - push ups, pull up,s dips, and you can get a sculpted body with these and a sensible diet. Good luck.

How can I get a sculpted body?
I am naturally a skinny guy, eating whatever I want and staying around 170 pounds. I have also been working out hard for the past 8 weeks, P90X. Most of the websites tell me the diet that I need to do to get huge, but I don't want that. What type of diet should I do to shed the out-layer of fat and still gain some good muscle to get a sculpted body?-
ANSWER:
To get a sculpted body you don't need to eat much. Binge eating will not get you any closer to your goals. The diet is 50% important in p90x and the exercises are also 50% important
. WIthout the diet you won't see good results and eating whatever you like won't help.Basically you've got to eat more healthily while eating about 200 calories less than your caloric maintenance level of around 2000 calories per day. So went you count calories in meals they've got to add up to 1800 calories more or less. That way you can burn fat in the long term and won't lose muscle. Your toning/sculpting will come from lifting weights.
Just keep at the p90x routine. At 8 weeks you haven't finished yet so you need to carry on doing it without giving up

Oh yes I Swear by gilad! Im already seeing results, I work out with him almost everyday, I catch him in the mornings around about 10:00 and if I dont work out with him the mornings I will work out with him at 1:30 or 6:30.

Am I silly at 44,starting to work out & body sculpt?
I have always been active but never really got into sports.After sickness 2 years ago,I started exercising.I got to a point where I wanted more.I started doing light weights as well.I was already walking every day, doing aerobics and palites.I started to muscle up and look great so Ive kept it up.Hubby says I look great & my friends say I am good enough to compete soon if I want to.I am married with 6 kids,all my own. I know my body looks better now than ever,but fell at 44,I may be deluding myself.I would like your opinions on this please guys as sometimes I feel silly. I also get sligh looks and comments now from all the locals.
To add to this, I was told I was a "Wanna Be" and old has been and trying to be mutton dressed as lamb,so to speak.I get a lot of compliments too, for example,my hubby is a DJ.I went with him one night and the regular bar maid asked him if I was his wife.He said yes,and she told him I was just drop dead gorgeous considering I had six kids.
My oldest son to a previous marriage is 19 and sometimes people ask if Im his g/friend, which he hates, LOL.My friend is now writing a program 4 me and wants me to compete.All of my closest friends support me so much. My dad said I was a joke and my mother laughs at times. By the way, both my parents are over weight. I guess they have shaken my confidence the most. I think a womans body can look just beautiful if its fit and slightly muscular.That applies to me as well. I truly appreciate your answers guys,so thank you, all of u, a million!-
