I'm not technically overweight (at least according to the BMI calculator) but I guess I've always been a bit stocky and I'd prefer to have a more slight and lean build. Of course genetics is involved...it is involved in nearly everything about you in some way. I think that you can fight genetics but only to a point. Our bodies have a set point that you will hover around (within 10 pounds) for most of your life (unless drastic changes are made...like surger for example). I do not have any dieting or workout advice, I dont know much about it. All I know is that be careful what you listen to because every "diet" will work differently for different people. I think as long as you stay consistently active and also cut back a little on your junk food indulgences you can work against those "love handles and man boobs"
I know nothing about liposuction so i cannot give any answer to that. Sure you can consider it, but BE CERTAIN you understand it before deciding if that is right for you.

You are hourglass shaped.Someone with an hourglass shape bust and hip measurement is about the same, which yours is a 1 inch difference. Rectangular shaped is the same except the waist measurement is close to the other to yet hourglass is a 10 inch difference, which is how yours is. Also pear shaped have a smaller bust line which you don't have.

Alright so from your measurements you would have a bra size of a 26DD (which you won't be able to find anywhere) so the closest you will get is a 28D. From the looks of your measurements you would be a kind of pear shaped called skittle. You have a defined waist but a larger buttom by about 4 inches. So it may not make a difference. So I did one of those BMI measurement things and it said I was overweight, 26.6 or something, but I am a swimmer and I have lost a lot of my fat and gained muscle from swimming recently, and even though the scale hasn't gone down much I am losing fat and I'm in a lot better shape. So my question is do these calculators really measure your body fat and how? Because my results are the same as before and I'm positive I've lost body fat. It does measure body fat at all, and does not take muscle mass into account. For example, at 6ft 0in and 225 lbs, I am considered "obese". While concede that I am at around 15% body fat and still have about 15 or so lbs of fat to get rid of, in order for me to reach a "healthy" weight I need to be 183 lbs. Let's do the math, shall we? 15% of 225 = 33.75 pounds. So, to make life easy, say I have 34 pounds of fat to lose. 225 - 34 = 191. That's with ZERO body fat (which is not possible). At 0% body fat, according to BMI I am still considered overweight. Am I supposed to start cutting of limbs now?

Where do ruler shaped women tend to carry weight?
I know this may be a silly or obvious question to some, but i'm completely bewildered. I am ruler shaped (33", 25", 34",, i typed in my measurements using a body shape calculator and it concluded that i was ruler shaped) I've been small basically all my life (i'm 18 years old, now, still standing at 4'11 since junior high :/,106 lbs) so it's hard to tell where exactly i'll gain weight when i do. it's pretty much obvious to tell where hourglass and pear shaped women will gain weight, but as far as ruler shape, i just don't know. can anyone help me?p.s. PLEASE do not tell me that if i haven't gained any weight by now, I never will. First off, that's ludicrous, second my mom was thin throughout her life until her second semester of her freshman year in college, as well as my grandmother, aunt, etc, so i know that eventually i'll be hit with weight gain. i'm in college now as well, by the way) and also please don't tell me to just look at my mom, grandmother and aunt to determine where i'll gain weight. my mom is an hourglass, grandmother is a well defined pear, and aunt is an obvious apple. so, that won't do me any good with me being ruler shaped and all.

First of all I'd consider you to be a VASE shape which is cross between hourglass and ruler. It would seem you distribute weight evenly throughout your body, not in one specific place.Example:
33-25-34 = vase (you)
33-27-34 = ruler

I'm a naturally thin person (I'm 5'5" and normally about 100 lbs.), but I'm also very athletic. During the cross country season I'm often 108-110 lbs. because muscle weighs more than fat. Whenever I calculate my BMI it says that I have a higher percentage of body fat when I'm more in shape, even though I know this is not accurate. Is there a BMI calculator available that can distinguish between fat and muscle?-

Nope BMI does not measure body fat percentage, it's merely a comparison of height and weight and takes no account of frame size, muscle mass, etc.The only way to get an accurate body fat reading is by DEXA, hydrostatic weighing or body fat callipers.

Does corset training work for anybody?
I want an hourglass figure, but i have a straight shape or banana but not too straight. when I enter my measurements in the body shape calculator i get banana but when I shrink my waist from one inch i get hourglass. So... is corset training worth only one inch? is it unhealthy? does it work? do you need to eat differently too? is it going to make a difference for my banana shape because I see girls who already have an hourglass shape or a pear one and it works I never saw the results of anyone who had a straight shape. Plus I have broad shoulders. Is it going to make a difference at all?

I'm not entirely certain why. I'm in shape and exercise daily. As far as my body shape is concerned, I have broad shoulders, am busty, have an irregularly small waist, and normal hip measurements in comparison to my shoulders. Why is it saying this? What do I do?-

I don't see why at 140 pounds and with your height you would have an increased risk of diabetes. Unless your waist measures over a thirty-five, than you should be fine. On the BMI (body mass index) you would be considered OK. Ask your doctor.

- exercise at least 3 or 4 times a week. (go walk around the block with a friend or parent or a pet or someone lol. with the way the world is don't go alone haha. theres a girl on youtube that does exercise videos. she rocks. get some free weights and watch her videos.)
- drink lots of water. (if you don't like a lot of water vitaminwater is a good way to get lots of it. its so addicting lol. or those crystal light things that you pour in your water MMMM those are good.)don't waste your summer! go swim! go run! eat right! enjoy ^.^

I have mostly clear skin with a few pimples but nothing I cant cover w/ coverup.....and nothing abnormal for a teen. The only Makeup I wear is coverup to get rid of Pimples and Dark Under-eye spots from tiredness, and some eye liner...Sometimes I do wear perfume but not very often....

Basically I'm really confused. I have always hated my body. I always thought it didn't make sense. I'm just looking for someone to maybe clear this all up for me lol. What measurement should I use to determine if I am healthy?

That puts my bmi at 21.1 according to some calculators.. I guess that is good lol
Then I did a body frame thing.. according to my wrist size I have a LARGE frame.
And my measurements seem wacky to me. I'm 34 26 37 (I HATE my hips) I have always had big hips and its all bone =(
So I guess what I want to know is. If I have a large frame... how am I at a good weight? Is it just bone structure? What should I use to determine if my body shape is healthy? You're thin with a pear shape. You're at a healthy weight with a good waist to height ratio which is a better determination of health than bmi

Without knowing how long you run at one time, cardio for an hour 4 times a week. Crunches and superman exercises. What body fat calculator are you talking about? You can't really calculate that without being in water or another test with your body measured. Do you mean 18 on the BMI? The BMI is inaccurate because it doesn't account for muscle mass.

At first I wanted to be a bit thicker, but I don't care what I eat or how much I eat, I don't tend to gain much weight (if any at all). But I'm afraid that while the majority of fat in my body is stored in every place but my chest and stomach, I feel as though once I start gaining weight, I may end up gaining weight in my tummy area. (Sorry, I know this info is somewhat besides the point because my goal isn't really to prevent weight gain.)
Basically, I'm wanting my waist to be slightly smaller for a bit more definition. I think the only time you can really tell that I have a nice body shape is when I wear tight clothing, and I've seen where when some females have small waists, they don't have to wear the tightest of clothing for you to be able to tell that they have a small waist. Is there anything I can do to get a smaller waist? I heard that yoga and pilates make the tummy area more boxed shape, and I definitely don't want that.

I had exactly the same wish at the age of 21, so I can understand what you want to know. But I am only 5'1". I always wanted a smaller waist and tried exercises, running, yoga and all sorts of diets. Then I met someone who suggested a corset to be worn at nights and weekends, to train my middle. It seemed a strange thing to do and I fought the idea for some time, but then tried it out - and it worked immediately - within a few weeks. Then I got addicted!!Before I started corseting at the age of 21, my waist had been about 30 inches. I trained slowly at the rate of about 2 inches each year, so that I achieved my 20 inches in about 4 years. The slow training was pain-free and I soon learned to move differently, to eat more carefully and sensibly, and sometimes to rest a little more. I am in perfect health with normal cholesterol, iron, vitamin-D, calcium, blood pressure, liver and renal function, menstruation and everything else. I live near London UK, have a Maths degree and work in specialized insurance in the City.
I have been training my waist since 1996 and have worn a tight-laced corset every day since 1999. That will be12 years in August 2011. My tight waist during the day is 20 inches. For special occasions I lace myself an extra inch tighter to 19 inches. I sleep in a special light short corset with my waist at 21 inches. I got married five years ago and my husband thinks he is in heaven !
My measurements in a normal day are bust 36C, waist 20, hips 38. I do not go crazy or aim at a world record tiny waist. And I do not show it off. I am not an exhibitionist. I do it for my own satisfaction and my husband's appreciation.
I am not looking to convert you to wear corsets, but if you want to try it out you'll be amazed. An inch or two reduction will be easy if you just wear the corset at night and weekends. Message me if you want any more info.

I am 13 years old, almost 14, and I'm very short for my age, I'm only 5'0 and I weigh around 120 pounds, I want to lose weight because I calculated my weight and height and the BMI calculator said I was way overweight for my age. I'm not actually that fat, my short torso just makes me seem fat. My real problem is in my thighs and legs, which are also short. Any advice on how to thin my legs/thighs, and is there any way to make your torso longer?
