1. QUESTION:
   Can a floyd rose bridge be installed on a guitar with string through body?
   I intend to buy a cheap schecter with string through body and later install a floyd rose bridge when I have money to spare.. Just read on Wiki that it is not possible if the guitar is of the string through type.. Can anyone please confirm if this is true?

   • ANSWER:
     You can, but you'll need to router out your guitar to make them fit. The holes that go all the way through might cause problems later on down the road during installation or later.

     The Floyd rose (or any other floating bridge) puts over 340 pounds of tension on the body because it has the pull of the strings (about 170+ lbs) as well as equal tension from a set of springs pulling the opposite direction. The holes in your guitar might create weak points that can't handle stress of the bridge. It can be done, but you risk damaging your guitar.

     Instead of putting that kind of money into a "cheap schecter", I'd recommend saving around 0 or so and getting a good midrange guitar with a Floyd. Schecter has a few, but I'd recommend Ibanez with a floating point tremolo (the Ibanez equivalent).

     since I'm not sure why you realy need to do that, this is on your own risk:

     I hope you have the skills for this:

     Create a new email and type the message you want to reply.
     Save the email using Save as ... and choose Outlook template *.oft from file type.

     In Microsoft Outlook 2003 go to TOOLS > Rules and Alers ...
     select Check messages when they arrive

     click Next x 2 (twice), click Yes.

     select Move it to the specified folder
     select Reply using a specific template

     on the second section named "Step 2: Edit the rule..."
     Click "a specific template"
     Select "User template from file system" from "Look in" and select a template you saved above.
     click "spcified" from the line "and move it to the specified folder" and choose an existing folder or create a new one.

     Click Next and select "except if the body contains specific words"
     Again, in the second section on the bottom, click "specific words" and add the words or expresions.
     Click Next, type a desription name for this rule, and click finish.

     Test the rule by sending some emails to yourself with and without the "key words" you specified and see the results.

   a "string through body" guitar that is right handed, is it possible to switch it to a lefty? like are the string holes all the same size so they can also be reversed where the low E can go through the high E hole?

     yes it can i'm a lefty guitarist and i string all my guitars backwards, as long as you know how to string a guitar properly, then you'll be fine

     don't listen to the other dude. dimebag razorbacks are good, but they don't have emgs and they're not that heavy sounding. whatever you do DO NOT get a gibson sg, they SUCK for metal. I recommend an esp ec 1000, its shaped like a les paul, i just got one and it's amazing. but since you prefer double cutaway you could get the H-1001 it's really good also. the ec 1000 is used by bands like the red chord, the acacia strain, and still remains.the h1001 is used by whitechapel, parkway drive, and suicide silence.

     Now the force acting on the hanging mass which is moving downward is
     F=5-T
     this equal to mxa where m is the mass of the body and a is accn.
     so 5-T=(5/9.8)a=.51a
     Now for the body on the table
     T=3.5a
     Substituting in first eqn we get
     5-3.5a=0.51a
     or a=5/4.01=1.25m/sec/sec
     Distance travelled in two sec. s=1/2 a t^2=1/2x1.25x4=2.5m

   Is it broken. I've never re-stringed a guitar before and all I was doing was feeding the old string back out through the hole, and the metal piece popped out of the wood and won't stay in now. Will it stay in with a new string through it or is it broken?

     Make sure the person who does the job knows how to install and SET them up correctly. Floyd rose sell for about 0 for the real deal. Installation is around 0. It will fit on the schecter .

10. QUESTION:
    Why is the E string closer to the body on violin?
    Is my violin broken? Why is the E string so much lower in physical height than the G string? It's so annoying because I have to play a slightly different position on the E string to make up for it. Is this the way violins are supposed to work? Is it possible to buy a symmetric bridge?

      It's supposed to be that way. Yes, it's possible to build a symmetric bridge but the problems it would cause would not be worth it.

      What different position are you playing on the E string? You shouldn't have to adjust anything other than the bow angle, which works better with the treble side lower anyway.

      There is no significant difference between the bodies of basses and guitars. The neck is a different story though.

      I've never seen one that wasn't custom made. I've heard that you can get Ibanez's artcore as a 5-string, but again, I've never seen it. I know the sound won't be the same, but I've definitely seen acoustic 5 stringers. If you're willing to bite the bullet, you could go with an acoustic, or just get a custom made bass.

15. QUESTION:
    Switched string gauge on my Hollow-Body and buzz sound is coming from upper neck?
    I just bought an Epiphone WildKat Hollow-Body. I wasn't too sure of the gauge that was already put on, but it was smaller than a 10. I switched them because I prefer the 10 gauge DR and after I put them on, the upper neck started to make a buzzing sound when I played a fret. Mainly on the E and A. Could it be the Nut? It looks rather tight on the up there. Or what?

    • ANSWER:
      I recommend taking your guitar to a technician to be checked out. If you have a music store around you, they usually have one.

      But anyway, to me, this seems to be the truss rod is unaligned. And it also could be your nut. The truss rod can be fixed by taking an allen wrench to a hole under a cover up on your headstock. The nut either has to be replaced (which I would probably do anyway. Get something like a bone nut) or the grooves have to be widened. Very specifically, mind you. But still, if you don't know what you're doing, seriously find a person who does. Messing this stuff up could mean putting more money into your guitar than you originally planned.

16. QUESTION:
    Draw a Full Body Diagram for a 5 kg mass, which hangs on a string at rest. What is the object's Net Force.
    Can anyone describe how my Free Body Diagram should look like. This is what I've done so far, F=M*G, F=5 kg * 9. 8 m/s^2, F= 49 N. Im guessing their is no other force but gravity because the object on the string, is at rest, and therefore I assume that the Net force (Resultant Force) is 0 N. Am I right?

      Yes, You are right... the resultant force is equal to 0 N...
      thats because of the reaction force... (every force have an reaction force equal the original force in magnitude and opposite to its direction)... that reaction force is the tension in the string... so you will have to draw the object with a force equal to 5Kg * 9.8 m/s^2 points down ... and another force with the same value but it should point up..

      By Archimedes' principle, an object submerged in a fluid will be pushed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces. That force is the difference in the tensions:

      60N - 38N = 22N = (density of fluid)*(volume of object)*g

      => volume of object = (22N)/((density of fluid)*g)

      = (22N)/((950kg/m^3)*(9.8m/s^2))

      = 0.002363m^3

      Weight of object (in air) = 60N = (density of object)*(volume of object)*g

      => density of object = (60N)/((volume of object)*g)

      = (60N)/((0.002363m^3)*(9.8m/s^2)

      = 2,590 kg/m^3 (2600kg/m^3 with 2 significant figures)

      In short - not a good idea.

      The main reason is that the neck scale is too short for the bass strings. The lower the tuning and the heavier the strings, the longer the neck scale has to be to make the intonation ("tuning") correct up the neck.

      As you can see, a bass guitar has a longer neck and larger distance between the frets - a result of the longer scale (the scale is the distance between the saddle and the nut - the length of the vibrating string).

      In addition you will face problems with the nut, saddle, pole pieces on the pickups not matching the strings - as well as other things. In other words, don't contemplate the idea. You will end up with a ruined guitar and an awful sounding bass not playing in tune.

      err.....the way the Schecter is built, you can't put a tremelo on it, or at least not without ruining the string thru resonance. My suggestion is keeping your Omen in one piece and looking for a cheap, possibly used dive-bomber from Dean, LTD, or Ibanez. Schecter built that guitar that way for a reason, and drilling holes to fit a tremelo below it's quality doesn't sound like a good plan. If you really don't want it, trade someone for one of the aforementioned guitars and wail away.
      Personally, I'd wire the tremelo shut away. Don't like em.

    I am trying to find a good body shaper to just hold in my gut a little... Im not over weight i just feel like i have a little pouch.     String through body guitar- what ferrules are needed?
    okay so.. im thinking of building my own guitar its the first time ive ever tried, and id just like to get some things straight..
    i want to make a string through body guitar. not so the strings come out at the bridge, but so they exit out the actual body (and go on to a tuneomatic bridge).
    obviously, i need ferrules on the back to stop the strings from moving.
    but on the other side -the front- how do i stop the strings cutting into the wood and damaging the body and strings?

    I had my IUD put in a couple months ago. Everythings been fine, until I went to check on it, and realized that one of the strings is actually visible outside of my body. I thought that it was a tampon string at first (I've been a little out of it lately) and started to pull, then realized what it was. I made an appointment for tomorrow, but is is there anything anyone can tell me about this? Maybe that I SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be worried?

      No, this is not normal. The doctor may have not trimmed the string enough or it could be on it's way out. Maybe just do a gentle feel for it, just like you are suppose to do after you finish your period. I wouldn't be worried since you are seeing your doctor tomorrow. Just try not to pull the string anymore, let it be until the doctor looks at it.

      No need to worry, it is just poop. Fish poop too, and goldfish can produce a lot of waste compared to other fish. Just make sure that you have a good filtaration system and clean the filter and change the cartridge once a month. Also do a 25% water change every 2 weeks, this will help keep your tank clean.

      Errr, it depends what kind of electric guitar it is, if it has humbuckers installed in them, it's probably a rock guitar by then, you don't need any other accessories other than an amplifier with good distortion (steer away from Marshall MGs and Line 6 Spiders, they're the evil amps of the low price range)

      If you're looking for an amp, look into a Roland Micro Cube or a VOX AD30VT.

      Generally, most guitar brands make huge ranges of guitars, most of which can do rock, you're not going to have much trouble finding a rock or metal guitar.

      WizzOW. so out of pure curiosity what part of your va jay jay are you cutting off? Or are you wanting to become a woman on the outside as well? Dont do it you will lose a lot of blood and what if you sever a main nerve you may never fell pleasure down there again and anyways you will have to go to the doctor to get the part removed because it just doesn't fall off....you have to get it amputated so you save yourself no embarrassment and cause yourself more.

    Guitar string height above body (not 'action')?
    I just switched from an Ibanez RG to a Jackson SLSMG and I've noticed a difference that I don't hear many people talking about.

    On the Jackson, the distance between the strings and the guitar's body is much greater than the Ibanez. With my Ibanez, I used to rest my palm on the guitar's body above the bridge pickup while playing, but on the Jackson the strings are too high to do that.

    In case you don't know what I'm talking about yet, I'll say that the guitars I'd say have 'low strings' are Ibanez and Fender, while Jacksons and Gibsons have 'high strings'. I'm not talking about the action though.

    Anyhow, my question is this: Since I'm having trouble playing with the higher strings on my new Jackson, does it mean that I'm not using correct technique/posture?

    • ANSWER:
      I don't know about incorrect, exactly, but your technique certainly sounds unconventional. Most guitarists hold their hand free, just perhaps resting the top of their forearm aginst the edge of the body - Stratocasters in particular seem designed for this - or, as I prefer if not using a Strat, rest their pinkie on the scratchplate.
      You may just not have chosen a guitar that suits you. Try a Les Paul; you can fit a left handed scratchplate above the strings, as players who strum vigorously sometimes do.

      Look at the Ibanez rg321 and the Schecter Omen 6. They are both hardtails, so there is no tremolo to worry about. They both sound great foir metal and their clean tone sint bad either. You can find the Ibanez for about 0 and the Schecter for about 0. Go try them out, I bet you will be impressed.

    String-through body Ibanez guitar?
    I was at a local guitar shop today getting my guitar restringed and adjusted and while i was walking around, looking at guitars, I saw a mystery Ibanez guitar. It was either a through or set neck, and it had a string-through body. The tag said it was a GA series, but Ive been researching it and I think they were mistaken because the GA series is acoustic. It had Seymour Duncan pickups and it was brownish red. I think it could possibly be a custom guitar but Im not sure. Oh and the price was 9 but thats because it was used and had a scratch on the bottom corner (although Im still convinced this i a deal!) Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

    • ANSWER:
      The G in Ibanez guitars typically stands for the Gio series which is crap and to my knowledge does not make neck thru or set neck models. The GA series is an acoustic series, classical I believe. So thats incorrect. The color of the guitar... well, thats not much to go on. And plenty of guitarists change out the pickups, so that is also hard to go on. Ibanez has a bunch of neck thru models, some of them are great, and some are decent.
      You can check the catalog at the below site... check either the NAMM sections or the catalogs he has. If its neck thru, at that price it may be a lower end SZ model like the 320, or could even be an RGT42 that is just priced to sell.

    How do you keep the floyd rose from sinking into the body while changing strings?
    I just bought a Dean ML Dime-O-Flame. I'm in the process of changing strings and I can't figure out how to keep the tremelo system from sinking into the body until I can get the strings tight. I've never owned a guitar with the floyd rose system and it's starting to feel like a pain in the ass. Does anyone have any ideas?

      change the strings 1 at a time is the best way to do it, taking them all off at once is a bad idea

      The easiest way is to change strings one a a time. That way there is always significant tension pulling back on the springs. Its a very simple solution. I know that trem systems do have a few inconveniences, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

    if i tie string around a small area of my body, will that part eventually fall off, how long?
    i am planning on tying like a fishing wire around part of my genitals so they will come off without surgery, what are the risks of doing this and if i can do it, how long will it take? thanks any answer appreciated

50. QUESTION:
    Where can I find a steel string guitar with a classic body style?
    I like the wide neck and the syle of the head on classicals but I like the way the steel string sounds for when I'm playing chords. I don't want two guitars. I rather try and find a happy medium. I also would like one the size of a dreadnought if possible cause I've got long arms. Can anyone help??
