Living a healthy lifestyle is really challenging, but with the right motivation, you will be able to achieve your goals. Exercise and proper diet plays a very important role in your life. Finding the needed motivation can be hard at first. However, there are simple ways that you can do to ensure lasting inspiration.
In order to achieve the best of health, you need to be realistic. You can’t achieve your goals overnight. You should be willing to work hard for it. On the average, you can lose around 1.5lbs a week if you’re trying to lose weight. Stick to this number and you will find losing weight a lot of fun. Losing weight is not about starving to death. All you have to do is follow the right diet and exercise regimen. It is even possible to reward yourself with your favorite food when you have accomplished your goals. The temptation is always there but if you’re determined to lose weight, you will not give in to it.
You will need the support of your friends and family. To stay healthy, you have to tell your loved ones about your goals. Your family and friends can provide you with the needed support and motivation to help you stay focused on your goals. Cravings will always be a problem. Nobody’s perfect and if you make mistakes, you shouldn’t lose hope. You are not the only one struggling to maintain a healthy body.
Make it a point to have positive thoughts. If you are dissatisfied with the results, you have to use it to strive better in the coming days or months. Find a diet that works for you. You can even talk with a nutritionist or dietician. An expert can design a meal plan that you can follow if you’re determined to maintain a physically fit and healthy body.
To get the right motivation to perform exercises regularly, you have to make sure that you love the workout. As a family person, there is a need to set aside a time that is exclusively for you. This will also serve as the best time to do exercises that will keep you healthy. Keep track of your calories. You have to get the recommended amount of calories depending on your age or gender. Always keep in mind that when you work out, you also get to burn some calories.
Having fun with the weekly exercise routine is important. Visualization will also do you good. Just put it this way – when you exercise, you can achieve a slimmer body in the near future. You can finally wear your favorite dress or outfit. Make it a point to read magazines as well. Fitness magazines will keep you motivated.
The online community is also very supportive when it comes to maintaining a healthy and physically fit body. You can participate in blogs and forums to share your views on living a healthy lifestyle. The rewards that you’re going to reap if you exercise regularly are hard to ignore, so stay motivated!

QUESTION:
Exercise Routines?
I was just curious to want routines people esp. women use when exercising. I don't have any kind of machinery and hate going to the gym. So tell me, what do you do at home??-
ANSWER:
I recommend "I Want That Body!" by Tamilee Webb to all women (and men). That has strength and toning exercises for arms, abs, and buns (which actually work out the entire body and not just those places). Strength training should be done 2-3 days a week. As for cardio, a lot of girls I know like dance fitness videos because they're FUN!

QUESTION:
What exercise routines would be suitable for older people?
My mom's physical health is slowly declining, and I've recently resolved to exercise regularly with her. My exercise routines are too rigorous for her, as she has weak joints, specifically in her knees. She needs a decent cardio workout that isn't too strenuous, but I haven't had any luck finding her a suitable one that we could do every day at home. Thanks for your help!!-
ANSWER:
Hello Non sequitur - Great job helping your mom. Exercise @ her pace, encourage range of motion. Use your routines if she likes. Exercise seated, reclining or in water what is fun, least painful. Moving slowly helps work balance. Treadmill or stationary bike work cardio @ ones pace.
My fave story is about sick man in nursing home. He improves him self with exercise & life-style change. Chinese practice Bagua, Tai Chi and live healthy until age 100.

QUESTION:
Any suggestions on exercise routines at home?
My husband and I had a gym membership last year, and it's one of the best things we've done to help us get into shape and stay in shape. However, this year some stuff came up, and we can't afford to renew our membership. Working out from home takes a lot of discipline and dedication. Do you have any exercise routines that have helped you? What are they and what do you do to keep yourself motivated?-
ANSWER:
Same thing happened to me. I had a membership last year and now I cannot afford it.So what I did was I got a set of weights and a tread mil.
Firstly I jog on the tread mil for 5 minutes.
Then, stretch leg musles, chest, arms muscles.
Back on the tread mil, jog for 20 minutes.
Then I would start doing 3 sets of weights for desired body part each ten reps. All together, It takes about an hour and half.

QUESTION:
Exercise routines?
I have six months to tone up my body any suggestions on what i should do and how can i start. I'm average but i have a few problems areas such as legs, arms and stomach. thanks-
ANSWER:
The best way to get toned is to reduce your body fat.Try to cut soda, candy, and other junk food out of your diet.
Drink lots of water when you're hungry. Many times your body is really thirsty and it feels like your hungry. It can sometimes be quenched with a tall glass of water instead of a bag of cheetos.Do cardio! Try to start out running 1 mile per day and increase the distance each week or so.
As for getting more muscle tone, work different areas on different days.
For example, one day work out your arms, and the next day work out your legs. Focus on doing quality movement in your reps instead of alot of weight.Hope that helps!

QUESTION:
What exercise routines actually work?
I've been looking for exercise routines to do at home without any exercise equipment, but none of them actually work in losing weight!!!!! HELP!-
ANSWER:
1. Staggered Pushups: Place your one hand on the floor while other on the book with your face facing the floor. By keeping your body straight lower your body on your toes and knees and perform pushups.2. Triceps Dip: for this sit on a chair with your hands resting by your thighs. Now bring your hips out by pushing up with knees bending and butt almost brushing chair/bench. After this bend your elbows and lower the body until the elbows are making right angle. Push back up and repeat the same. If you want it to be more intense you should straighten your legs.
3. Squats on triceps: Stand with your feet apart with width that is more than hip's. Now squat down and put your hands on the phone book which should be in front of you. Now raise your body using your fingertips and tiptoes and lift your hips toward ceiling. Try straightening your knees as much as you can. Crouch back down and repeat the same procedure. Remember to stay on your tiptoes during this workout. You can also perform this by placing hands on bed or chair.
4. Good mornings: For this stand with your feet apart at about hip width and hold the book over your head. By slightly bending knees and keeping the abs braced, tip from hips and then lower the torso till it is in line with the floor. Make sure that you keep your arms in line with your ears. Return to original position and repeat. If you have back problem do not perform this routine.
5. Calf Raise: You should stand on the book. Make sure that the heels are hanging off the back. Ensure your body is straight before lifting your body up on the tiptoes by contracting your calves. Return to original position and repeat the routine. This routine can be performed on the floor as well.

Then add some weight training routine 2-3 times a week. Once on money then rest tuesday. Do it again on Wednesday then rest thursday. Then do it one more time on friday. Here is a circuit type weight lifting program that you do it all at once then rest for 1 minute and do it again. Do 2-3 circuits. QUESTION:
Is it ok to exercise twice a day? How much time should you give your muscles a rest between exercise routines?
I'm curious as to whether a second exercise routine in the day is beneficial as a part of a healthy lifestyle. I exercised for an hour earlier in the day, ate too much for dinner, and am now wondering whether I should exercise again before I go to sleep.-
ANSWER:
Exercising multiple times a day is not bad for you. In fact, a lot of serious resistant trainers follow this same routine. It boosts your metabolism (basically increase your internal body temperature) and keeps you pumped. The one reason I would stray from it right now, is that you have recently had a meal. From the sounds it, a heavy meal at that. Working out may make you feel sick, wait an hour or two and then hit it up.

QUESTION:
Where can I find exercise routines to GAIN weight?
I'm 29. I'm 6' 2" and I only weight 128 lbs. I quit smoking 6 months ago and I eat like a horse, but I'm not gaining any weight and my wife is afraid that my low weight is unhealthy. All the exercise routines I find have been created with the intention of losing weight.
I've started eating better, but now I want to exercise.
I just had a complete physical and the doc didn't find any medical problems. I'm healthy as a horse (just not built quite as well).
In high school and college I ate whatever; knowing my metabolism would someday halt and my weight would catch up to me.Now I'm 30 and I want to put on some muscle mass.
Thank you for those of you with real advise.
My wife loves me the way that I am, but wants to make sure I'm still around and healthy when I'm 40, 50, 60, & 90.
-
ANSWER:
Ok, Iam not an expert, but due to my hectic training schedule, I was not able to eat properly, and I lost a lot of kilos. Iam already lean, now I became even more lean! Then I asked for methods to gain weight. The first thing you should keep in mind is that gaining weight is not the only sign of health. If it is, then why are so many people out there go to gym everyday and sweat like pigs to lose weight?! Your doctor diagnosed and didn't find anything wrong, right? And you know very well that you are healthy as a horse. Then what are you so worried about? You should be proud about your amazing slim body. Many people out there dream about a slender attractive body...
If you still want to gain weight, try thick banana milkshake, and milk mixed with enough protein powder everyday.
Take in a lot of dairy products(but be careful when you take in the butter). Go to a good gym, where a good instructor can give you advice on gaining body mass.I don't think non-veg is gonna help gain body mass. It just makes you obese."You are just 29, and you alredy have a good family, now why are you so worried about being lean? Be proud, man, just enjoy the life...."

QUESTION:
I'm planning to buffen myself up. Can you suggest some exercise routines? And what about protein shakes?
I've been exercising for months - and instead of buffing myself, I LOST WEIGHT. Now, friends say I'm stark thin - almost as if I'm not eating enough, so I'm planning to eat up and buffen myself. Can you suggest some good exercise routines that involve the chest and the arms? A little bit on the back of the shoulders would be good too... (you may also add in any other exercise routines that you feel is necessary).
What about protein shakes? Are they necessary to making a person buff? I won't mind getting em though. How often do you need to make em?
On what I mean buff: Big-sized but not ripped. Tough looking but not fat. Get the pic?
Thanks for any help!
WHOOPS! I made a mistake on buffen! ROTFLFMAO... okay, enough laughing. Get to answering! =P-
ANSWER:
Beware the shakes, they can cause heart probs and gall stones.Best not to obsess on your appearance, I have a friend who looked precisely the way you want to look, but has never married, because the type of girl he attracts looking that way is not the sort he would ever marry.

QUESTION:
What exercise routines I can do to increase my running speed and agility?
I'm a soon to be Junior. And I wanted to try out for football in my Junior year. I'm 5'11 and weighed 210...I want to play the defensive end position. I know that I will need a somewhat decent speed. So what exercise I can do that will help me increase my running speed and agility?-
ANSWER:
I have many you can do, but the person above who said run 3 miles, DO NOT RUN LONG DISTANCE, football is mainly short sprinting, you'll sprint 100 yards at the most, but you should be practicing more than half a mile of running at a time. Here are all my exercises for you, although some are hard to explain on the internet23 Laps of Hell:
In collage they do 23, but for your case we'll shorten it to high school standards, 11. So lets call this 11 laps of hell. In order to do this you need to be on a basketball cort. Its simple really, you need to sprint 11 laps from one basket to another, in under 2 minutes. If you can't do it in under two minutes, you have to sprint another 5 for punishment. It seems easy but once you acually try it its horrible. My first time I tried it I ran 11 in 4 and a half minutes. I can do it now after a LOT of practice. If you have a hard time doing it in under 2 minutes, raise the time to 3 minutes for the first week or so.100 yard dash:
This one is simple as well. The best place to do this is on a football field, but if you want you can measure out 100 yards in an open field. What you do is start at the starting point, and run 100 yards. You must run each 100 yard sprint in under 15 seconds, and between each sprint take a 30 second break. You should be able to complete 16 sprints before you stop.
50 yard dash:
the 100 yard dash is mainly for skill positions such as WR or Runningback, if your trying DE, I would do more 50 yard dash's, not 100 yard ones. For the 50 yard dash, you have to run 50 yards, each sprint in under 9 seconds. Give your self 30 seconds break for each one. You should complete 20 sprints.
Shuffle:
have three cones set up like this *=cone ___=5 yards
*___*___*
start at the middle cone. Shuffle to the right cone, then shuffle to the left cone, and finnish at the middle cone. You can also do this same exercise with 15 yards between each cone, but only recomend that if you conditioning, not if you want to gain speed. Do this as many times as you like, untill you record a fast time. Make sure you time yourself with a stopwatch.
40 yard dash:
I think everyone has heard of this one. Mark 40 yards, and run it. For you, I'd try to run in in 5.5 or less. An ideal time would be 5.2 or less.
I have many more but most are for skill positions, not linemen. If you practice these you should be good though

QUESTION:
I need to slim down and tighten up.What type of diet should I follow and what exercise routines are effective?
I weigh around 130 and i'm about 5'6". I usually jog but it isn't effective enough. What diet and exercise routine should i follow?-
ANSWER:
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

ANSWER:
20 rep squats. Takes about 20 minutes, but works like a beauty.Get a weight that you can only squat 10 times in one set and squat it 20 times. Here is the thing: don't stop. Once you get tired, let the bar and keep going. Don't rack the bar until you are done or can't move the weight up after squatting down. I would suggest to do this in a power rack.

Where can i find TEEN exercise routines to lose wight?
im 13...and i dont know wat kind of routines i should have for my age!can someone tell me where can i find TEEN exercise routines to lose wight?
AND...
if u have an exercise routine you have yourself, would you mind sharing it with me?THANKS<3
-
ANSWER:
If you read Seventeen Magazine like almost every teen girl. They have exercises in the health section that are safe for teens. For being thirteen, just do basic exercises every night for 30-40 minutes. When I was thirteen and looking to lose weight. I did things like crunches, sit ups, push-ups, windmills, running in place, jump roping and leg lifts. It doesn't seem like much but just doing that for 30 minutes every night helped me lose weight at that age. I just tried to increase it every other night to push myself. I did about 20 or more of everything. 5 minutes running in place and 5 minutes jump roping at a high speed.

ANSWER:
I subscribe to fitness magazine and just recently i was trying to find a routine for myself to help me exercise a little everyday at home. I came up with the idea to cut out exercise routines from magazines and put them on index cards. I put them in a basket or box and pull one each day on whatever muscle group i'm working on. It works well, only a few minutes a day and I have different routines to do daily.

QUESTION:
Any good exercise routines or tips to get ready for high school tennis?
I'm aiming to run a mile every other day. (This is a good idea because then I don't get too tired out, right?)Any general tips would be great
Thank you!-
ANSWER:
Well if your doing tennis then you have to get to one side of the court really quick rite? I would recomend sprints instead of running a mile. Running long distance will give you more stamina and help get you in shape (if your not in shape). But sprinting up and down the tennis courts would probly do you some good. Also you could do shuffles where you crouch down so your legs make a 90 degree angle and your thighs are parrallel to the ground. Hope it helps.

QUESTION:
Does anyone know any good exercise routines you can do at home for rock hard abs?
I really want to have rock hard abs so if anyone knows any routine, please tell me.-
ANSWER:
Hello Sam, One of the best exercises is the ab crunch sequence. These are a super slow set of crunches where you lay on your back with knees bent, put your hands behind head and elbows out to the sides. Then lift each vertebra off the floor one by one until you're in the sit up position then do the same all the way back down to the begining position. Barely stop at the top and at the bottom. Keep in constant motion. This will ensure that you work each section of the abdominal musculature. Do these to fatigue making sure to breathe throughout the exercise. Follow up with 2 sets of alternating obliques where you take each elbow and go to the opposite sidewhile you are "curling up." Being careful to again lift each vertebra off the floor one by one. And, concentrate on making a smooth arc in the air with your elbow then alternate sides. No matter how far you get you will have worked both sides evenly. You can also do these on the floor with your feet ankered under a sofa.
If you're also loosing a little weight at the same time you'll get tone more quickly because you'll have less of the subcutaneous fat (fat under the skin) and see definition more quickly.
Best of luck to you!

ANSWER:
If you have a Wii then get Wii fit. It is a really good workout program. If not then aim for 30-60 minutes of medium exercise each day. For example,
20 minute jog
15 minutes of weights ( 5,6,7 reps going up)
10 minutes of sit-ups and jack knifes
and finally 15 minutes of shooting hoops to warm down.
Good Luck!

QUESTION:
Where can i find free exercise routines for weight loss that are effective and work?
I googled it but i really dont know what to look for, so could someone give me a few sites, or even something thta is customizable, and specific... Thanks (im trying to start my new years resolution)-
ANSWER:
you should check out sparkteens.com it's great it helps you plan and organize each week for you to help to get to your goal -of how much weight you want to loose. And there are lots of videos on that site to and trust me the really do work but like the organized scuedule on the site will say that you need to do it more than like to burn the number of calories each week to get to your goal. there is even a progress report that will show you how much weight you loosing from week to week it's a pretty good site cause there not just workout stuff there stuff about healthy foods and there stuff about water like how much you should be drinking stuff like that cause all that is important if you want to loose weight. But you might want to check out toneteen.com there stuff about like if you eat say a big slice of cake then it will take u blank amount of time to work it off, and there also certain excersises for different parts of your body : ) but if your not a teen maybe checkout sparkpeople.com i've never tried it but u might want to if your not a teen it will probably be similar to sparkteens.com
p.s i use to be 145 pounds now im 115 pounds and i am 5"7 so the site(sparkteens.com) helped a lot hope it help you : )

Any good exercise routines for the stomach and back with pictures?
I joined weight watchers....so I'm doing good on the healthy eating but, I want to loose weight but only in certain areas. Any websites that have this? Thanks for the positive comments.....negative comments will be reported to yahoo!
-
ANSWER:
Not with pictures. Sorry.
Stomach excersize: 1)Suck in stomach as long as possible, because the muscles in your stomach will be working and pulling. This will result you with abs and stomach weight loss.2)Jump Roping! This will shake your body fat much and force you to use much energy.
3)LAUGH! It helps. Meet more funny friends. Or simply just.. LAUGH!
BACK: I'm not sure if you want a straigh back or what ever. But, some excersizes are....
1)streching by trying to touch the ceiling. By jumping. This will pull/stretch you back. And end up with a straoghter back and a taller body.

QUESTION:
What are some good home exercise routines?
I'm am in college so I dont really have time to go to the gym. I'm 5'7" and weigh 157lbs. How can I lose weight and tone up without going to a gym?-
ANSWER:
What do you mean by no time to go to the gym? You mean getting to the gym and back? If you want the gain (or loss, whatever), you have to put the time into the workout. If you lose fat, you will appear more toned, and you will lose some weight. Cut simple carbs from your diet (avoid candies, sodas, white breads, starches). Eat more fiber, less animals fats.
if you wish to build some muscle, do strength workouts. I particularly like Mina Lessig workout videos. But there are plenty of options out there with 10 or 30 (or anything in between and more) workouts. They're all effective.
If still no time for such things, incorporate as much into daily activities as possible. Walk as much as possible. Take stairs. When you take the stairs, focus on certain leg muscles. Climb stairs on your heels and work your butt or that section of the leg. Climb them on your toes and work the calves. In general, try to feel that burn.
I would recommend at least doing a proper workout or two (find a video) so you know what it feels like.

QUESTION:
What are some good and effective dumbbell exercise routines?
I don't have the time or money to go to a gym. I just want to tone myself up, put on some mass, and lower my body fat%. I'm 19, Male, 5'7. I weigh 137lbs.-
ANSWER:
Dude, you don't have much bodyfat at 5'7" and 137. Skip the weights for now, jump rope. Get to where you can jump rope for 12 separate 3min periods with a 1min rest in between. Once you get there your bodyfat will be non-existent and then go to the gym.

QUESTION:
What are some good exercise routines to get into basketball playing shape?
10 Points to the best answer! Thanks in advance.-
ANSWER:
-running (long distance is good for endurance/stamina) (short distance sprinting sometimes because that's pretty much what you do going up and down the court)
-push ups (builds up arm strength especially when you're being swatted at, you need to keep you arms able to shoot under any circumstances because you can still get the points even if you are fouled)
-sit ups (helps with endurance because you'll be getting beaten every which way you can think of [depending on how competitive you're playing])
-most of these include the legs, but any other leg exercises you konw can help to build stamina for continual running
-don't forget to stretch!

QUESTION:
How do you loose 2 pounds per week? What exercise routines work well with a good dietary plan?-
ANSWER:
Walking is the best and easiest of exercises. I don't mean going for a stroll. Try for an hour a day at a quick pace, get your heart pumping, and take hills to build your muscles.
As for a diet - I would focus on foods that have protein and fiber and other good stuff but no more than 8 grams of sugar/serving. Also try not to eat 3 hours before bed time.
