If you want to increase your cardiovascular ability, you need to actually do aerobic exercise, not anaerobic sprinting. Anaerobic sprinting actually uses "fast twitch" muscles, which rely on muscle cells that perform anaerobic or oxygen (O2) less metabolism. If you desire to build up your "cardio" ability, then you want to perform prolonged aerobic exercises that enhance "slow twitch" muscles that are relent on constant oxygen flow.To do this from your starting point I have several suggestions on how you can safely improve your distance running capabilities, without over exerting yourself.
1. Your heart rate of 190 is extremely high for running, especially as a beginner, so you definitely do not want to just fight through it. First, I would suggest you start taking fish oil and a multivitamin daily because the fish oil's omega-3 fatty acids promote good cellular, heart, and metabolic health, while a vitamin will give you Vitamins B and C to give you extra energy and improve your overall health. (Your heart rate should be in the ballpark of 120, although you can increase as you progress)
2. Start out by setting up 3 or 4 minute rounds of running and resting in between however many you decide you can do. Even if you get winded before your target time is up, just keep moving whether it be jogging or even walking, there is no shame in it, and just keeping in motion will start to improve your fitness level. Once you can do your target, move it up by a minute or two a week.
Also, another tactic you could try is to start biking in a gym or outside and start doing it in the same manner as I explained for running, however being as riding a bike is less stressful on your body you should be able to exercise longer, until you improve enough to start distance running.
3. Remember when your distance running its not actually "running," its more about finding your appropriate stride that maximizes your distance and speed, while minimizing your effort level, so that you can go that speed for awhile.
Also, it is important to remember to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Just breathing with better technique can help extend your runs.
4. Eat an apple or drink some apple juice before you go running because its simple sugars will give you extra energy, or you can eat an orange as well because it will increase your NO (nitric oxide) levels in your blood, which dilates your vein and arteries, so you have better blood flow.
5. Run with music if you can because it just helps you relax a lot more and work harder.

i have a in ground pool in the shape of a bean, and concrete around it in the same shape giving you somewhere to walk, with a larger area for chairs and tables. Around the concrete is small rocks, and in the back end of the pool area, is what used to be a garden and an open grass area with a swing. Every year before me and my family use the pool, we spend weekend after weekend picking weeds, I'm looking for a permanent solution to the weed problem. Here is one test they must pass early on in the seal buds school....after they PT the hell out of them for a couple hours and they are all pretty tired (not dead to the world but not fresh and rested either) they have to make a 4 mile run on the beach in wet fatigues and boots...it has to be done in under 27 minutes, miss the time and you are out...so put together a plan and try to slowly get to that phase of fitness...push ups, crunches, sit ups, leg lifts, squats, pull ups, chin ups, rope climbing, running up and down dunes (or sandy hills if you have any near where you live) are all part of seal training, and any Marine or spec ops type training....and swimming, lots of swimming, the seals do some pretty incredible endurance swims that they have to make in their training but I'm not familiar with the required distance or times.Also if you don't hunt, start...get as much practice as you can with getting comfortable putting the bead on a live target in a stressful situation...duck hunting was very helpful to me with being an excellent shot (especially when standing from 200 yds) when I got to boot camp and qualified top in my series (4 platoons of about 60 recruits each) at the rifle range and was offered sniper school.

I know that this question has been asked before but I just need to get some answers for myself. So here goes. (If you can't already tell this is sort of hard for me to talk about.) I've always known I wasn't like everyone else; I've always sort of followed what I thought I should be like, and that meant pretending to be attracted to women. The truth, though, is that I've never been remotely attracted to a woman in my life. On the other hand, I have been attracted to plenty of men. I can't explain it at all, it's just an innate feeling I've had since I was a child. I've had people ask me in the past if I was gay and I always defiantly said no. I've never been ready to admit the one secret that's weighed me down over the years. And I guess I should say why exactly I never came clean in the first place. I live in a community that is accepting, but not exactly the ideal place for someone to be gay. There are a lot of people in support of gay rights but I feel that if I were to come out to everyone before I go to college, then I'd lose a lot of the relationships that I've built up over the years. Some of my straight male friends might get the wrong idea and think that I befriended them because I was attracted to them, which is not the case whatsoever. I'm not really attracted to any of them, actually. Mostly because they're a little too arrogant and immature for my taste. My family, in general, would accept it pretty well. My mom would definitely be okay with it. My dad might be a little bit less receptive since he is the most Republican man ever and I have an inkling that he wants me to have kids of my own. He supports gay rights but not gay marriage, which upsets me quite a bit. My brothers would probably not be too shocked since I never have girls over ever and I've yet to even go on a date with a girl. The rest of my family would be completely fine with it I know. The thing that's holding me back, though, is how much I know my life will change once I come out. I think it would take my immediate family a little bit of adjusting, but I know that they'll support me... they always have.As far as when I want to come out is a bit of a different story. I want to come out in a year from now because it'll give me time to evaluate my life and get in better physical shape so that I feel more confident about myself. I know that my confidence will go way up once I drop some weight and start feeling more energized. By the way I'm going into my freshman year in college soon.
What scares me the most though, is what'll happen between me and my best friend. He's straight obviously, and we have a ton in common. We bonded last year at a camp and I've never been as close to a person as I was/am with him. I fear that our relationship would totally change once I come out, since he might think that I only befriended him because I was attracted to him, but again that's not the case at all. I've never thought about any of my friends that way, ever. I respect them too much and I honestly just like them as friends. What I think I should do is come out to him or my other best friend, who is from NYC. He told me once that he would not care if I was gay, which makes sense since he is from the most diverse city in the world. I know in the back of my head that nothing would really change between me and my best friends, but I don't know for sure obviously.
Since I have no one to talk to quite yet I figured I'd just talk it out on here and hope someone can give me some wisdom. Who should I come out to first? After I come out to my family, what do I do? Any other wise words are welcome.

How do I get started in cheerleading? Do I have what it takes?
I have thought for a long time about started cheerleading. No, its not for the popularity. Its for the fun of cheering people on, and being a part of a team.
I am very flexible in every area of my body except inner thighs, which means that i can bend backwards and form on O shape, or put one of my legs behind my head, but not do the splits. ( I am currently working on doing the splits but it is a long painful process for me :/ )
I have taken a few formal gymnastics classes, but mainly i practice on my trampoline in my backyard. I can do a cartwheel, round off, front flip, and back walk-over, and i am currently working on my back hand spring.
I'm not exactly sure how to get started, there doesn't seem to be any cheer camps in my area.
I will try out at school when the tryout day comes, but since it is the summer, does anyone know how i can get started, or a good place to take a class? Should I even bother? I mean, do I have enough skill?

My mom only foud out because she found me making out with another girl. She completely freaked and overreacted. We talked about ti and I was honest with her. I am attracted to girls and I am not interested in boys in any way shape or form. I told her that I am who I am and I cant change that. Then she brought up something that happened like 4 years ago. He brought up the fact that I was molested by a family member and that she thinks its what "made me gay". I told her that nothing "makes" people gay, either you are or you aren't, and what happened to me didn't "make me gay". Then she went on and on about how she thinks Im straight and that Im only going through a phase. Historically the Border Patrol Academy is well known for the physical training they put new agents through. At the Academy in Artesia Wells, New Mexico you will run and run and run some more, so if I were you I would concentrate on running and cardiovascular endurance, with some weight training mixed in.Due to the fact that the U.S. Border Patrol is hiring new agents at a record setting pace, they have considerably reduced the length of the Academy, which used to run nearly six months. But since they are desperate for new recruits, the total length of the program is now about two months. The rumor was that too many recruits were unable to pass the rigorous physical training requirements, so the Border Patrol eased back on their Academy length and are now enabling higher numbers of rookie agents to successfully complete the training.
Regardless of the reduced time, you will run and run I can promise you. While the training time has been cut by more than half, the Border Patrol still takes the physical conditioning of their agents very seriously, especially for those assigned to the southern border. Concentrate on your running and cardio and as I also mentioned earlier, throw in some weight training and you should be okay.

How do I get back into shape quickly and stop the constant soreness and muscle tightness?
I'm a sophmore in high school now and I've been running track for two years. Freshman year I played football, and wrestled after, when wrestling season was over i was still in shape and I joined track. I was a star on the team as a freshman, i ran an 800 in about 2:14 a mile around 5:00 and 2 miles around 11:10. Since I was so successful my coach convinced me to quit football and run cross country. Cross Country season the next year was also successful, I ran about a 17 minute 5K and was feeling great. Then I wrestled on the varsity wrestling team, near the end of the season I got sick, missed practise for a couple of weeks and got out of shape. When track season came I was out of shape and could hardly keep up in practise, and got sore everyday. When one thing would go away, another thing would get sore. My thighs, my calves, my abs, ect. I've been doing terrible so far in the races and my body is in pain. How do i get the magic back?-
ANSWER:
One of the major causes of muscle soreness is when you suddenly start exercising a muscle that you haven't used in a long time. I am guessing that you didn't use your thighs, calves, abs, etc. in wrestling as much as you do now in track.Doing general stretching exercises before you run should help you avoid muscle soreness. Also, gradually increasing the intensity of your workout will help. The idea is that you want your muscles to ease into your running so that your soreness will be less likely to occur. There is conflicting evidence regarding post-workout exercises, but it may help.
In the meanwhile, since your pain seems to be in localized regions, you can ice your muscles to reduce the inflammations. No more than 15 minutes at a time for about 3-4 times a day. Pain medication may be taken if the pain becomes too severe to bear, but they do nothing to make it go away any faster.
As your muscles get used to running again, the muscle soreness and tightness will pass sooner than you think. I am sure that you will be back to your "magical" self. Good luck.

You need to focus on consistency. Start off with running every other day, shoot for 30 minutes of continuous running. Start every workout with the kind of warm up that you'll do at practice.Once you're comfortable with 30 minutes (might only take you a week or two), start adding in more days each week, and run harder on a couple of days. Your next goal is to be running 30 minutes, 6 days per week, comfortably.
If you still have time before the first practice, start adding minutes to one day to turn it into a long run of an hour. Keep the other runs around 30 minutes, most days at a relatively easy pace, some days faster (comfortably hard).
Once practice starts, this should give you a solid base to train from.

I am only a freshmen but I made varsity and hell week I will tell you what they call it hel week for a reason. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOU GET IN SHAPE FOR VARSITY SOCCER. Varsity players do less that the JV and Freshmen people do. At practices especially.At tryouts you need to make sure that you don't give up and try to keep up with the pack.
But you need to make sure you do a lot of sprinting hear is a program specific for training for varsity players.
Play or do recovery runs on two of the other days.
Make sure that you do a proper warm up and cool down each time and that you are hydrating properly. Do not do more that what is required in this running program.Running Workout for High School Players
