      I'm working on this right now (though I'm a boy), cardio. Sorry for the vague answer, but I don't know how waist slimming works with women. Try washing machine twists and SWIM because if I can't help you in any other way...I do know that a secret to bombing out your waist is to work out your lower back and that's what kicking in the water does for you. So, cardio and some lower back and side workouts with weights and swimming will help (if you're not already doing this). Hope I helped. I'm down 28 pounds. I was 255, now I blend in with the crowd.       Aerobic exercise in general is good. That's like running, slow weight lifting, etc. Anything that is repeated many times over. Contrary to what a lot of people seem to believe, you can't spot lose weight. You lose weight over your whole body. You can't just do crunches and expect the fat specifically there to disappear. I would still suggest the crunches, though. They build muscle in your abs, helping to making your waist less lumpy and bumpy. I don't know if it would be the best thing to get a SLIMMER waist, but it would make it smoother and more pleasant to look at.

      So basically, you have two of the best things right there. Aerobic excercises--running, walking, jumping rope, I'm pretty sure Tai Chi is (might oughtta check first), swimming, and crunches are too I think. Just find what works best for you. And STICK WITH IT. Make sure not to cut out too many carbs while you're at it though. They are what keeps you going.

      Try doing more intense shorter workouts, the kind that get you out of breath fast. Try doing this with running, swimming and your sit-ups/crunches. The more intense, the more fat burned. If your not in shape for those yet just eat right and exercise regularly at your own pace, its the best way.

      Although ab workouts don't get rid of the fat there, you will build your abs up. It's best to stay consistent with anaerobic and aerobic workouts (simple weight training combined with cardio). Keep your diet right and go on walks/runs regularly and you will notice the results in no time!

      It's not a case of "either/or". It's a combination of both, although everybody who has a six-pack will tell you - and this is the truth - that it's 95% DIET. If you are still having Grandma's Famous Egg Nog and Aunt Gertrude's Sinful Apple Strudel, you can do 3000 crunches between now and midnight on December 31st, and it won't make any difference.

      If you limit yourself to lean meats, veggies and fresh fruit starting RIGHT NOW, do at least an hour of brisk cardio every day and supplement that with at least eight glasses of water a day as well, you can drop at least a couple of pounds before the ball drops in Times Square.

      I'm trying to do the same thing and it's coming along nicely. Not only that but I just feel healthy as well.
      These are what I do, and I do all these things combined:

      *First of all, I drink Fuze juice. It's very good in taste and I'm addicted to it. Not only that but it cleanses your body, which can help slim you down. I added a link below with what the juice looks like. They have different flavors. You may like some, you may hate some! Test them out!

      *When I wake up in the mourning, I do crunches. When I first started, I kept it to about 20 crunches for when I woke up, and another 20 for before I went to bed. Now I just do sixty crunches before my shower in the mourning. That has helped A LOT and they are not that difficult. Avoid sit ups. They do more damage then good.

      *My boyfriend and I go jogging about three times a week, and we're thinking about increasing it to maybe 5 times a week. We took a trial run and jogged for as long as we were comfortable. Slowly, each week we began to increase are distance without pushing ourselves to hard. When it's raining or not a nice day. We just go to the gym and run around the track

      *On the days my boyfriend and I do not run, we go for walks. Usually walking the dogs. We still get exercise on those days, however, we're not running and exhausting ourself.

      *The one thing that I did before I started all the other stuff is I started to watch what I eat. This is easier then I thought it would be. I cut out the idea of three large meals a day. Instead, my eating schedule consists of
      ~Eating a small breakfast
      ~Eating a small snack every 2-3 hours
      ~Skipping lunch and allowing the snacks to fill me
      ~Eating a regular dinner and nothing after dinner
      Another thing too is, I still go to Mcdonalds. You would be surprised at how much the fries do to you. I've completely cut out the fries and still eat the burgers and everything is going fine. You don't have to completely change your eating habits.

      *Drink lots of water. My liquid intake consists of Fuze juice, and water. I've cut out the sodas and allowed Fuze and Water to hydrate me. I think this made a HUGE difference

      You don't want your bones to reduce...that's bad...it means that the bones are weakened and you don't want that.

      Exercising will help trim you down, no matter what your age. It will burn up the energy that is stored as fat and turn it into muscle. This is a double boon since it will help keep you slimmer on it's own and muscle uses more energy at rest than fat does, so it will raise your "resting metabolic rate"...helping to keep you slimmer even when you aren't doing anything.

      But don't do anything that would weaken your skeletal system...the body will fight you (and win) the entire time.

      first you must be patient, you can't burn it all in one week or less, you must work and work and work... i myself love taekwondo and I have black belt, I suggest you to exercise more and eat less, it's better to refer to a doctor and consult with him/her. running is one of the best ways, first run until you perspire (that's important cause it burns fat), then do some stomach exercises like this one: lay and bend your knees (it's better to have a partner to keep your foot avoiding to move) then try reach yourself to your knees by your stomach muscles and repeat this move about 20 or 25 times (more=better). another one is this: lay on the ground or a flat area then stick you feet together then bring up your feet and your head together about 5 to 10 cm from the ground or where you are (your legs knees and feet must be straight and in a line do not bend them) and keep this position until 10 or 15 seconds (more seconds = better result) and repeat it... these are our usual moves in taekwondo an we use it every day, if you want to succeed you should be patient and do it repeatedly and never give up and don't be lazy do it every day, every day harder faster and more, increase you moves day by day...

      Try gettin on the tred for atleast 30 minutes a day three times a week. Doing more than that won't really affect your body anymore so keep it at that.

      Also...start eating right. Don't crash diet..but eat right...as in 5 small meals a day. big breakfast, mild lunch, light dinner, and snacks in between.

      Drink lots of cold water...it speeds up your metabolism. Try working out in the morning...it speeds up your metabolism for the rest of the day.

      There is no way to target one body part for fat loss. Your body burns fat all over when you work out. That's just the way it is :( . You can tone specific parts of your body, though, with strength training. For fat loss, cardio with light weight strength training is your best bet.

      Just do some cardio. You're 12, so you shouldn't be on a hardcore diet. Just train your back and stomach muscles. Don't do to much, cuz you're 12, and it wont be good if you dieet!

      Try wearing Spanx, they are really comfortable and hold you in really well, they have some that are footed panty hose, capri length or just the "power panty" which holds in your butt and stomach. If you dont want to wear those just go with higher waisted styles- the high waist will hold in the stomach pudge that you feel uncomfortable about, a lower waist will only accentuate what you are trying to hide. High waisted skirts with a belt at the top of the skirt will accentuate your smallest part- right under your bust. Also even with jeans go for a higher waist and just wear a longer tee so no one will know the waist is high- Joes jeans hollywood style is a good one. Oh, also for dresses, look for things with an empire waist but make sure the bodice isnt too poofy- there is a fine line between flattering and maternity looking! Good luck finding things!!

      ....lay on your back, keep your legs straight, and slowly lift them off the ground. make sure you concentrate on using your abs to do the lifting, and not your leg muscles. try to keep your back as flat on the ground as possible

      According to my own experience, if you lose 10 pounds, you will lose 3 inches on your waist.
      (I was 29 inches at 128lbs, and 26 inches at 118lbs).

      Each pounds is 3,500 calories so you would need to exercise for 35,000 calories. Aim for a maximum loss of one pound per week for 10 weeks (= 500 calories/day), or even better and easier, 1/2 pounds for 20 weeks (= 250 calories/day).

      Frequency - How often are you exercising? Can you add more days?

      Intensity - @ what intensity are you exercising at? Can you increase the amount of weights your lifting, run at a faster speed or do more exercises?

      Time - how long are your workouts? Do you need to increase it?

      Type - What type of exercises are you doing? Maybe you're not seeing results cause you do the same thing over and over? Try to do other things maybe like spinning, or squats on the bosu to spice things up.

      I have a corset I wear all the time. It's not one of those old fashioned torture devices that makes your waist like 14 inches around. It's just a waist slimmer that ties in the back. More of a fashion thing for me. It makes my waist all pretty and streamlined when i wear it, but as soon as I take it off I have my post-baby pooch again. (Sigh....)

    i am not going to take any diet pills. i just want to see how the tight waist gurdel from avon curves, is. thats it.

      yes I have tried it and it works. I put it on while I am cleaning around the house and it makes you sweat. It is not uncomfortable to me, just I wouldn't recommend wearing anything else like pants or shorts over top of them because that will make you too hot.

      Crunches, sit-ups and leg lifts work the best.

      By the way, this is just a suggestion but maybe you should put a few pounds. 6 feet and 155 pounds seems pretty skinny to me.

      I'm 6'1" and 170 pounds and people still say I look slim.

      for slim, curved-in waist,
      I really recommend HOOLA HOOP.
      They really work if you are consistant.
      Get ones with those round things around the inside of the hoop that pressure and push the waist for better outcome.
      Just do 20 min a day, and you will see a difference.

      Also crunches!
      they tighten the abs and muscles on stomach which
      can pull up the fat on the waist.. Also they are a real good exercise :) Do about 35 a day along with the hoola hoop, and you should definately see an outcome in about a month.

      Last thing, leg lifts..
      do side leg lifts to burn off the fat on the sides (waist)
      do it till it burns XD
      they work the fat and muscles of lower stomach including the waist and as a bonus, it can also tone up your thighs : )

      This is a fool-proof trick that I sometimes use and it works instantly :-)

      Do you have a wide elastic belt? You know those ones that you stretch around your hips and it clips up at the front? Well wear one of those around your waist and put a top on over the top. It shrinks your waist instantly and it's really comfortable! I prefer to wear it above a singlet before I put on my top.       I read a question about your Mum and I'm really sorry you're having a hard time at home. I've been in a similar situation and I know the feeling of wanting to move out but not knowing where to go. Don't cause trouble or do anything to set her off and, if you're still fighting and arguing, maybe you could talk to an Aunty or close family friend and see if you could stay with them for a couple of nights to get away from your Mum for a while.
